Starting state

No slice or baseline was selected. The AI field experiment was not executable without a partner, preregistration, and privacy-reviewed telemetry.

Actions taken

Compared four candidates against evidence strength, measurability, two-to-four week feasibility, privacy/safety, ROS relevance, and falsifiability.

Observations

Handoff reconstruction has a directly evidenced information-availability problem and can be tested with synthetic/public records. Onboarding and architecture explanation are valuable but broader and more audience-dependent.

Attempts to falsify

EV-HANDOFF-2026-B6E8 shows that task reconstruction cannot stand in for onboarding. Authoring cost and false confidence are included as adverse outcomes.

Selected a handoff reconstruction evaluator provisionally in DF-HANDOFF-2026-5C9B.
