Research note

For one bounded observation or decision with no multi-step investigation. Create the relevant evidence, decision, or concept record. A full REP is not required.

Research cycle

For a meaningful investigation that tests hypotheses. Requires a journal plus the evidence, hypothesis, experiment, or theory records actually affected. End with a concise handoff in the journal or mission.

Full REP

Required for major synthesis, cross-session or cross-agent handoff, theory change, material decision support, or research whose reconstruction matters. It follows the canonical REP specification.

Mission metadata declares artifact_tier. Risk or consequence may raise the tier. Boilerplate does not substitute for evidence.
